September 2008: Security-conscious enterprises and organisations can leverage on the Virtual Application (VAP) Gateway from local-based Data Security Systems Solutions.

The VAP Gateway combines two security solutions, the DSSS Authentication Security Module for maximum flexibility in end-to-end security and 2-factor authentication; with the Sun Microsystems’s Secure Global Desktop for mobility in virtualised secure desktop environments into a gateway appliance.

The gateway enforces strong authentication, encryption and access control, while ensuring zero-installation, ease-of-use and mobility for the client.

For its role in end-to-end security and multi-factor authentication, Data Security Systems Solutions was named as Sun’s Asia South Partner of the Year 2008 (Software). The award was given out last month at the Sun Asia-South Partner Kick Off Conference in Singapore.

Advantages of the VAP Gateway setup

● Protect from data leakage. Users accessing application via the VAP Gateway can only use the application but cannot download or copy data out of the network.

● Multi-factor, multi-token access. The VAP Gateway provides standards-based encryption, strong authentication and fine-grain application access control, all from a single box.

● Administrators can perform remote administration and management, without needing to open SSH/RDP to the Internet.

● Employees can work at home, without needing office-issued laptops. Employees can also use general-purposed Internet kiosks at airports or hotels to access office applications securely, without needing to install clients, and without worrying about data left on the kiosk terminal.
