e-Cop’s leadership and solid track record in setting up Security Operation Centres (SOCs) key reasons to securing the deal Singapore, 06 September 2006 - e-Cop Pte Ltd, the trusted provider of critical info-security technologies and services, announced that it has been awarded a five-year contract by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) to build a Cyber-WatchCentre (CWC) for the public sector. The contract has an estimated procurement value of S$ 18 million. The CWC is one of the key initiatives under the Infocomm Security Masterplan, a multi-agency effort led by IDA under the guidance of the National Infocomm Security Committee, which is aimed at enhancing Singapore’s cyber-security. It will contribute to the Intelligent Nation 2015 master plan, a 10-year infocomm roadmap that plans to wire up the nation and fulfill Singapore’s vision of building a digital nation. e-Cop will develop the CWC based on its trusted and proven SOC model, which is centred on the internationally recognised best practices - BS7799/ISO27001. Using e-Cop’s award-winning Cyclops Enterprise Security Management (CESM) technology, the CWC will conduct round-the-clock network security monitoring for the systems and networks of the participating government agencies. It will be able to detect increasing sophisticated attacks, filter out false alarms and provide early warning of impending cyber-threats. The centre will be manned by a dedicated team of specially-trained infocomm security professionals to proactively monitor, collect, collate information on cyber-threats on a 24x7 basis and will immediately inform the relevant government agency to take a remedial action when a malicious threat is detected. Presently, more than 1,600 government services are available online to businesses and individuals. These users access government e-services for a wide range of services from filing taxes to applications of licenses. The CWC will provide added assurance to the public that government web-sites and e-services are always available and secure. Mr. Leong Keng Thai, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Director-General (Telecoms), IDA Singapore said, “Singapore will strengthen its status as a key communications node by being one of the first in Asia to set up a monitoring unit such as the Cyber-WatchCentre. In the long term, the CWC will also aid Singapore’s exchange of cyber-security intelligence with countries around the world and boost global defence against cyber-threats.” The CWC plays a crucial role in providing situational security awareness at a nationwide level. It will provide the government and eventually the nation with the capability to respond to infocomm security threats. “We are honoured to be awarded this project and play a pivotal role in the nation’s holistic pursuit to enhance the cyber-security landscape of Singapore. This appointment validates e-Cop’s capabilities and will strengthen our leadership position in providing trusted and scalable info-security technologies and services for both immediate and long term requirements of our clients in managing their security needs,” said Mr. Eddie Chau, President and Chief Executive Officer of e-Cop.
