Top in business continuity, disaster

Oct 30, 2007: Singapore Computer Systems has emerged the top business continuity provider of the year in Asia for its Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery site in the inaugural Asia Business Continuity Awards.

SCS has been providing business continuity, data recovery and data centre services since 1987, with almost 100,000 sq feet of such facilities. It supports customers in many industries including financial services, government, logistics, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and property.

President and CEO Tan Tong Hai says SCS has conducted over 4,000 recovery tests and helped clients recover from nine live disasters, including the SARS epidemic in 2003.

SCS offers (a) a disaster recovery "hot site" where the client can continue operating within hours of informing SCS; (b) a "cold site" for the client to install replacement equipment and continue their operations without disrupting business while re-building their own facilities; (c) work area room recovery services, equipped with PCs and telephones, customised to the client's particular needs; and (d) data centre and hosting services.

Early this year, SCS launched iMobicon, the region’s first mobile business continuity office, introducing the concept of a business continuity office that can be brought to the customers’ location of choice. Other innovative services include command and control dashboards and automated business continuity plans.

The award recognises the achievement of individuals and organisations in the business continuity industry.
