The inQflow system from inQflow Technologies Holdings (wholly-owned by RSTN Consulting) uses traditional writing with pen and paper, but the paper becomes “alive” and the pen becomes “intelligent”. Whatever that is being written on the normal paper (printed with patented dots) allows accurate and faster capturing and transfer into the backend server.
The paper is created by printing a proprietary pattern of very small dots on ordinary paper that is perceived by the eye as a slightly off-while colour. By registering the pen’s movement across the paper, and also the pressure, the writing is interpreted and digitalised. More amazingly, even drawn sketches can be interpreted.
The inQflow pen has a tiny digital camera to register its movement across the grid surface on the paper and stores it as a series of map coordinates. The coordinates correspond to the exact location of the page it is written on. When a mark is made in the SEND box with the inQflow pen, the pen is instructed to send the stored sequence of coordinates, which are translated into an image that will result in an exact copy of the handwriting that can be displayed on any computer.
Several pilot projects for the healthcare sector (such as Alexandra Hospital) and the financial services sector have reported cost-savings and productivity gain from using the inQflow solution. The product has also been launched in Malaysia and China. The overall market for the industry is growing at 60 percent in the Asian market and 45 percent globally, the firm estimates.
