NCS Pte Ltd, a leading IT and communications engineering services provider in the region, and its Bahrain strategic partner, Xpand Advisory W.L.L. was awarded a contract worth more than S$10 million in August 2005 to design and provide Intelligent Building Solutions for Bahrain’s first World Trade Centre (BWTC) project. The 50-storey twin towers located in the BWTC site will be the first high-tech yet user-friendly intelligent office buildings in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It also showcases NCS’ state-of-the-art Intelligent Building Solutions. NCS provides the design, systems integration, project management, systems design, installation, testing and commissioning of the Intelligent Building Solution for the iconic BWTC project. Intelligent Building Solutions includes the information and communications infrastructure, management services, physical security and car park management system, amongst others. Upon completion, the BWTC will be one of the most secured buildings with high levels of surveillance and access control. Intelligent building management systems will ensure tight control of the building facilities and connectivity inoperability such as a common IP backbone and voice IP throughout the entire building will allow occupants easy access to numerous services. The tenants can enjoy high-speed broadband Internet access, Internet Protocol telephony, wireless and unified messaging, all on a single, converged voice-data-video network. Tenants can access other IT-related amenities as easily as standard utilities like water and electricity. In addition, the retail systems will be in place to deliver a total lifestyle experience to shoppers. The design will combine a high degree of individual customisation with the cost advantages of a shared and fully managed infrastructure. The BWTC is also the first building to have energy generating wind turbines within the structure itself that will be able to provide 11% to 15% of the electricity needs of the building. The Intelligent Building Solutions provided will reduce costs by increasing energy efficiency and improving facility and resource management. NCS Bahrain, led by General Manager, Mohamed Taib, is currently also pursuing various consulting and infrastructure projects in Middle East including countries like Dubai, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
