SingTel wins customer care award

June 2008: Local telco SingTel is Singapore’s best-managed company, as well as delivering top-of-the-line customer care.

According to FinanceAsia.com’s eighth annual poll of Asia’s best-managed companies, SingTel received the most votes in the following sectors: best corporate governance; best CFO Francis Heng; best investor relations and most committed to a strong dividend policy.

The poll was conducted by collecting votes from 167 investors and analysts across the region.

SingTel also came out tops in another survey, by IT publication, Computerworld Singapore. The Customer Care survey of its readers covered suppliers in 14 categories, from enterprise software to hardware and telecommunications services.

Readers were invited to score their major suppliers based on implementation and ongoing customer service. To determine the best customer carers, IT customers were asked to vote for, and rate the quality of, the service they get from their chosen vendors before, during and after the deployment of their systems.

They scored their major suppliers on:

 Implementation: Was the project delivered on time and on budget? Was the implementation process designed to take into account the needs of your organisation? Were vendor employees well-informed and helpful? Was user training completed to a high standard?

 Ongoing customer service: How long did the phone ring before someone attends to a service request? How long did it take before skilled personnel appear on-site to solve customers’ problems? Did your vendor make you feel like a valuable customer once the implementation is complete?

SingTel won in the telecommunications services.
Computerworld Singapore editor Teng Fang Yih says: “The Customer Care awards round up, what we think of, as a collective annual report card on key technology providers.

“This year we approached 6,000 IT executives and managers in Singapore to vote for and evaluate their chosen vendors' and solution providers based on their customer service and other solution delivery people,” Teng adds.
