The world is flat, and Singapore's ICT companies are going abroad to compete and collaborate. The opening address at the forum was presented by IDA’s CEO, RADM(NS) Ronnie Tay. He discussed the various collaborations and projects that IDA has in place to assist the local industry in this difficult economic climate.

To prepare one for 2009, 2 keynotes presentations was arranged. Our speaker, Mr Jerome Joseph, is an Experiential Brand Strategist specializing in Brand Strategy, Experiential Branding and Strategic Brand Communication as well as corporate brand trainer. Members were surprised with a free copy of Mr Joseph’s self penned book and feedback on the presentations was very positive.

The National Infocomm Awards 2008 honours the achievements of Singapore ICT companies and technology users. Advanced Network Technology Lab and BuzzCity as co-winners in the Most Innovative Product/Service category.

CommunicAsia is the regional showcase of ICT products and solutions. Local and regional visitors discover technology solutions, including mobile networking in Asia, online business matchmaking, and even tech gizmos as lucky draw prizes at the Infocomm Singapore portal booth.

More than 200 ICT professionals gain an insight into the challenges and opportunities in 2008 at the ICT Business Outlook Forum, organised by the Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation.

Many young people like to "cosplay" (dress up as comic book characters) and meet in public spaces to socialise, and buy and sell fan art. To understand this youth phenomenon, BuzzCity organises a talk and discussion on Cosplay, led by CEO Dr Lai Kok Fung, and presented by Dr Elizabeth Maclachlan and Dr Thang Leng Leng of NUS Japanese Studies.

Singapore IT companies take part in the region’s technology solution contest, winning awards in three categories: e-logistics, industrial applications and security, as well as garnering merit awards in other categories. The event is organised by the Asia-Pacific ICT Alliance or APICTA, in its seventh year.

ICT as an engine of growth has been the vision since the government’s effort to computerise the Civil Service in 1980. At the “Scaling the Infocomm Summit” presentation, IDA presents key goals and a vision of Singapore as an intelligent nation in 2015.
