December 2007: Autoscan Technology, a leading supply chain solutions provider and systems integrator, clinched the Merit Award in the e-Logistics Category of the Asia Pacific Information and Communication Technology Alliance (APICTA) Award 2007.

The winning solution was its Advanced Transportation-Logistics Application Services (ATLAS-SCM), which was launched in 2006.

To help companies streamline and integrate their operations to improve their efficiency and effectiveness, ATLAS-SCM has four key products: Transport Management, Warehouse Management, Integrated Logistics and Fleet Management.

An early adopter of the ATLAS-SCM is a leading petrochemical company in Singapore, who wanted an integrated solution to merge production and warehouse processes in the most efficient manner. Autoscan effectively introduced the use of RFID technologies and completed one of the largest RFID warehouse projects in ASEAN using the ATLAS-ILS (Integrated Logistics System) and significantly lowered operational costs by more than 10 percent for the company.

Another example of the ATLAS-SCM application is with DHL EXEL Supply Chain (DESC), where the ATLAS-TMS was implemented for the Asia Pacific region. DHL was able to deliver the supply chain visibility that its customers were after, its new transport management system also gave the local trucking industry a competitive edge through the use of Infocomm Technologies.

With such impressive track records, DHL clinched The Venetian Dock Management and Delivery to Mall contract in Macau in mid 2007, to manage the dock management and scheduling service. The Venetian is Las Vegas Sand’s second resort to open in Macau and the anchor of the much larger Cotai Strip mega-tourism development.

ATLAS-SCM is also taught to students pursuing the Logistics and Operations Management and Business Information Technology diplomas at Temasek Polytechnic and Nanyang Polytechnic.

For 2008, Autoscan plans to reach out to SMEs and provide them a platform where they can use technologies and solutions that are being used by the bigger companies. Autoscan is working with Singapore Logistics Association, Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and Spring Singapore to create this awareness particularly in the petrol chemical, transport and logistics and aviation industries.

Autoscan's CEO, Patrick Chua notes that, “to become a regional leader in supply chain management and RFID, we need to strategise for growth and global market presence. We need to grow our business by 30 percent so as to hit the $18 million revenue mark in 2008”.

Mr Chua says the Singapore market currently contributes about 75 percent of Autoscan’s revenue. The next two years will see concerted marketing efforts in Malaysia, Thailand and China. He expects total sales from these three strategic markets to make up 50 percent of the revenue.
